Microsoft signed an agreement with the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) to distribute the Computer Online Forensic Evidence Extractor (Cofee) to the interests of the field of digital forensics.
NW3C is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to supporting the process of enforcement, investigation and prosecution of various forms of crimes involving high technology.
To that end, Microsoft is providing Cofee for law enforcement agencies in helping them analyze and investigate complex criminal cases undertaken by the offender through the internet and computer technology.
Net Security, Wednesday (10/14/2009) launch, Cofee digital forensic technology to help investigators gather evidence in the form of computing activities is directly used to commit the crime.
"The challenge in terms of a general investigation of cyber crime is the need to conduct forensic analysis on computers," Microsoft spokesman said.
"While the evidence as the process of using the computer when the system is active and data networks are often lost and evaporated when the computer is turned off. In fact, this proof contains various information that can be reinforced in the process of investigation and prosecution, "he added.
With Cofee computer operator does not require any special skills to capture various information. Even ordinary computer users can be guided through pre-configured Cofee in less than 10 minutes.
