Born January 8, 1973 to a Portuguese-Jamaican father and a Chinese-Jamaican mother, Sean Paul Henriques is one of the hottest DJs on the dancehall scene today. Sean Paul grew up in the upscale Norbrook area of St. Andrew, Jamaica. The "copper-color Chiney bwoy" excelled in sports while in high school. He represented Jamaica in water polo and swimming in several international events. He continued his education at the College of Arts, Science and Technology (now the University of Technology) where he earned a degree in Hotel Management.
Sean Paul got his introduction to the music business in 1993 through members of the band Third World. By the spring of 1996 he had recorded is first single Baby Girl for producer Jeremy Harding's 2 Hard Records label. This opened the door for his very successful follow-up hit
Infiltrate and a string of other dancehall hits including Strategy and Deport Them. Already firmly established as a the one to watch, Sean Paul teamed up with long-time friend and fellow DJ Mr. Vegas to record one of his most successful singles to date, Haffi Get De Gal (Hot Gal Today). This set the stage for Sean Paul's debut CD, Stage One. Click here to read a review of Stage One.

Sean Paul has also launched his own record label, Bassline Records, with partner Daniel Abbot to sharpen his production skills and have an even greater impact on the reggae music industry. Their first riddim is Titanium 2000.
Early in his career, Sean Paul was often mistaken for Spragga Benz. Today Sean Paul fans worldwide know the unique sound of the man known as the "uptown deejay". (Unlike Sean Paul and his Dutty Cup Crew, most dancehall deejays come from ghetto areas.) You can contact the Sean Paul Fan Club at 32 Dumbarton Ave., Kingston 10, Jamaica, West Indies.
